Kirklees and Calderdale Forest School provide an outdoor alternative to the classroom. Working and learning outdoors has a rich history, powerful academic underpinning and robust pedagogies. This is what we are part of and are proud to add to. 

Our sessions are participant led and arts focussed. Sessions are immersive with exploratory and investigative activities that promote the development of self-confidence, self-respect and altruism. Activities incorporate creativity, self-expression, problem solving, communication, decision making and helping others. 

Classrooms try hard to emulate the woodland environment; its colours, smells and sounds provoke unique responses in the senses. Ultimately there is no substitute for the thrill of learning outdoors.
